Walking Dead: Story Sync

posted Mar 13, 2012, 4:08 PM by Jamie Ollivier

AMC's pioneering new initiative for two screen experiences is called: Storysync. This provides the viewer with exclusive content and features which is updated during the live broadcast. A big fan of the Walking Dead, I immediately tuned in via my iPhone to eagerly see what was available for the fan.

Story Sync makes it's debute on the "Walking Dead"

I nice first step, Storysync does it's best to connect the audience to the show and each other. I played along with the polls, trivia and enjoyed the exclusive clips and teasers for upcoming episodes. Ultimately the experience is still somewhat lacking as I actually missed some of the show as I tried to get my smart phone synchronized with the program!

I'm looking forward to more experimentation of this technology with other shows like "Mad Men".
AMC is a leader in great programming and it's a pleasure see them breaking new ground in interactive innovation as well.

"HuStream has created a comprehensive Cloud-based Interactive Video Design Tool Set. It is highly intuitive, completely drag & drop, and takes the complexity out of creating and delivering “choose your own adventure style” Interactive Videos" -www.hustream.com

I've taken a behind-the-scenes look at HuStreams platform and they have created a solution for non-programmer types to be able to author rich interactive video-centric experiences. Embracing HTML5, this tool allows authors to plan, create and publish content to the latest web browsers and platform's like the iPad. This kind of technology is essential for broadcasters content producers to be able to leverage their core asset which is of course video.

Here is a HuStreams video that provides an overview of their tool set in action:
